David Crockett
Crockett was born 17 August 1786 in what is now northeastern Tennessee. Davy Crockett was perhaps best known in Tennessee as a noted hunter and for his unique style of hunting in the woods. In Texas, however, he will always be remembered as a heroic participant in the Battle of the Alamo. He never really was a part of politics but is into it by default. By 1821, he was elected to the State Legislature, and was reelected to that position in 1823.

- Davy said that he wanted to start hunting at the age of 8 and promised his father to become the greatest huntsman ever!!!
- When Davy was 13 he roamed around the woods after school and practiced shooting.
- Davy Crockett had time for a couple of marriages but found his passion for war and realized he needed to be part of the army. He left to live in the regiment he was assigned.
- Davy walked out of his home leaving his kids and family to join in the Battle of the Alamo.
- There was a clipper ship named after Davy Crockett and they made his own trading card.
Stephen F . Austin
Born in Virginia and raised in southeastern Missouri, Stephen Fuller Austin is considered the founder of Anglo-American Texas. Accordingly, after many delays and frustrations with the Mexican government, Steven Austin introduced a large number of colonists from the United States. An unassuming man with a kindly presence, he was deeply respected by all, and achieved unparalleled influence over the often unruly settlers in Anglo Texas. After devoting the best years of his life to the cause of Texas, Austin was overcome by disease and on 27 December 1836 died an untimely death at the age of forty-three years.

Sam Houston
One of the most major founding figures in Texas history was Sam Houston who was born in Virginia on March 2, 1793. There, Houston became friends with the Cherokee Indians, and he spent much time with them, an activity which he much preferred over studies or working on the farm. He excelled in the military and won the hearts of his men. It was there that Houston was elected commander-in-chief of the armies of Texas.

James Bowie
James Bowie, born March 10,1796, was a Texan rebel during the Texas Revolution. He was a skilled fighter, though not very high up in the government. He had a characteristic Bowie knife. During a fight called the Sandbar Fight, he was attacked. After being shot and stabbed, he killed a man with one slice from his knife. He was killed at the Battle of the Alamo where he was sick in bed.
